ABOUT SWITZERLAND

Switzerland is a small country situated in the heard of Europe between France, Germany, Austria and Italy and is famous for its dramatic landscapes and quaint country settings. Over 25% of its surface is covered with mountains.  The country has a population of over 7 million and the country has four official languages including German, French, Italian and Romansh. However, most of its citizens speak English, making this country a very easy place to travel and live in.

Switzerland is best known for its financial institutions, fine cheeses, chocolate, watch-making industry, for its scenery and an excellent public transport network. The capital city is Berne; other major cities include Basel, Geneva, Lucerne, Lugano and Zurich. Major events, such as the Zurich Street parade, Féte du Geneve and Verbier Extreme are amongst the main attractions that draw in tourists from all around the world.
